"According to the Washington County Historical Society (WCHS), Dellwood is one of the smaller communities of Washington County, consisting of approximately 1,800 acres with a 2010 Census Report population of 1,063. Dellwood is situated along the Northeast shore of White Bear Lake, quietly nested into a rolling rural landscape. The area began to be settled in the early 1850's, mostly by people moving out from St. Paul. The population increased after 1870, when the Stillwater and St. Paul Railroad was completed around the North end of White Bear Lake and across what is now Grant Township.
Dellwood was reorganized into a City in 1992. Though it houses farms, its population lives in a suburban setting. The City is commonly recognized for The Pine Tree Apple Orchard, a 300-acre farm in Dellwood that grows apples, strawberries, pumpkins, and corn and offers wagon rides and other activities, as well as running its own bakery. On another farm parcel, plans are underway for a vineyard and destination winery on a historic 180-acre estate formerly owned by the family of railroad magnate James J Hill." - City of Dellwood
